Ivy Gourd Gravy/Tindora Ka Salan/Dondakaya Gravy/Kovaikai Kuzhambu


This recipe is known with multiple names, like Ivy Gourd Gravy/Tindora Ka Salan/Dondakaya Gravy/Kovaikai Kuzhambu.

Ingredients :

  • Dondakaya/Tindora– 250 grams
  • Ginger – small piece
  • Garlic – few
  • Onion – 2 or 3
  • Tomato – 2 or 3
  • Salt – as required
  • Turmeric Powder- as required
  • Chilli Powder- as required
  • Tadka
  • Ground Nuts – 50 grams


Procedure :

  • Dry roast ground nuts in a pan and make it to powder using mixer grinder.
  • Cut ginger, garlic,onions and tomato into small pieces and put in a mixer grinder and make it to a paste.
  • add ground powder, Salt, Turmeric Powder, Chilli Powder to the above paste.
  • now, make cuts to the dondakaya and insert this paste inside those cuts.
  • Now, add oil to pan and prepare tadka.
  • now, add stuffed dondakaya to the oil and let them cook in sim for 5-10 minutes.
  • Then add water for gravy let it cook for 5 minutes.
  • Yummy dondakaya gravy  curry is  ready 🙂



Ladies Finger Soup ( Bendakaya Pulusu )

Ingredients :

  • Ladies Finger/ Bendakaya – 250-300 grams
  • Oil
  • Onions – 2 or 3
  • Salt
  • Ginger Garlic paste -1 spoon
  • Tadka ( How to prepare Tadka (పోపు) )
  • Curry leaves
  • coriander
  • Turmeric powder
  • Chilli Powder
  • tamarind Juice

Procedure :

  • heat oil in a pan and add cut onions,and stir until onions become golden brown.
  • wash ladies finger and wipe with dry cloth and then cut into pieces.
  • add ginger garlic paste and let it fry for another 2 minutes.
  • prepare tadka and add the onions, ginger garlic paste, chilli powder,turmeric to it.
  • add cut chillis, tamarind juice, water, salt and let them cook for sometime.
  • now put the ladies finger pieces in the gravy and cook in low flame for 10 minutes.
  • then add coriander leaves on top for garnishing.
  • yummy Bendakaya Pulusu ( Ladies Finger Soup) is ready 🙂




  • Milk  500ml
  • Sugar
  • Custard Powder
  • Cut Fruits

Procedure :

  • take 500ml milk and boil it.
  • Take 2 spoons custard powder and add to cold milk and allow it to become like thick liquid. keep stirring to avoid forming lumps.
  • now, mix this thick mixture with boiled milk and keep stirring.
  • add half cup of sugar, cut fruits at this stage.
  • allow it to cool by keeping in fridge.
  • serve chilled.
  • yummy fruit custard is ready 🙂




  • Rice Flour – 200 grams
  • Jaggery – 200 grams
  • Grated Coconut – 100 grams
  • Moong Dal – 50 grams
  • Milk – 50 ml
  • Elaichi – few
  • Salt
  • Dry Fruits


  • Take a glass of water and boil it, once boiled, add rice flour to it and mix nicely to avoid forming lumps.
  • now, make them into small balls ans keep it aside.
  • fry moong dal and then boil them.
  • now, take a brass kadai on stove and add water, jaggery, grated coconut, and then let it cook and add the balls prepared above along with moong dal.
  • once it is boiled for 5-10mins, mix rice flour in milk,salt,elaichi and stir and add to the contents in brass kadai.
  • switch off stove after 2-3 minutes to avoid overcooking.
  • garnish with dry fruits.
  • yummy undrallu is ready 🙂


Idli in Jackfruit Leaves : Ganesh Chaturdhi Special


This is a traditional recipe made during Ganesh chaturdhi. It is known as panasa kudumulu in Andhra Pradesh and Khotto in Karnataka.

Idli batter is steam cooked in jackfruit leaves, which gives a unique flavor to idlis.


  • Fresh Jack fruit Leaves
  • new broom stick pieces or tooth picks
  • Idli batter


  • wash the jack fruit leaves nicely and wipe with dry cloth.
  • now, take 4 leaves and keep all ends with stem on out side and arrange as plus sign.
  • now, put a tooth pick piece so that all 4 stay together.
  • now, join the 4 on sides to make it like a basket.

  • now, pour idli batter in the basket and steam cook like normal idli.
  • Once cooked, all them to cool slightly and eat with coconut chutney or sambar.

Methi Rice ( Fenugreek Rice )


Ingredients :

  • Methi / Fenugreek Leaves – 1 bowl
  • Rice – 150 grams
  • Tomato – 2
  • Onion – 1
  • Ginger Garlic Paste
  • Cloves – 2
  • Cinnamon – 1 inch piece
  • Salt
  • Green Chillis
  • Ghee


  • Cook rice in normal procedure and keep aside.
  • separate leaves only form fenugreek stems and wash them. we need to use only leaves for this recipe.
  • take a kadai and pour ghee, cloves, cinnamon, ginger garlic paste, salt, chopped onions, and saute them, until they become golden brown.
  • now, add cut tomato pieces, methi leaves( Fenugreek leaves ) and cook on low flame for 5-10 minutes and keep aside.
  • now, mix the boiled rice to the above mixture and allow it to cook on low flame for 5 minutes. mix continuously.
  • you can garnish with cashew pieces and coriander leaves.
  • yummy methi/ fenugreek leaves rice is ready 🙂
  • it’s a very healthy dish for diabetics and pregnant women.


Janthikalu – Andhra Snack



  • Besan Flour/ Chick Pea Flour – 2 cups
  • Rice Flour – 2 cups
  • Ajwain – 5 grams
  • Ginger Garlic Paste
  • Salt
  • Chilli Powder
  • Oil


  • mix ajwain, ginger garlic paste, little water and then make it to a paste using mixer grinder. now, filter the liquid portion of this paste and keep it aside. you need only the liquid portion, please make a note.
  • now, take a bowl and mix rice flour, besan flour, salt, chilli powder, water and mix nicely and prepare dough.
  • now, add the liquid portion extracted in step 1.

  • now, put the dough in it and press it so that, the dough falls in oil in various shapes as per the disc used.
  • deep fry them, until golden brown, but don’t roast them 😉
